Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar that sees one fasting from sunrise to sunset.

No food or drink is to be consumed during those hours, however a meal is served before sunrise and after sunset.

During the month of spiritual reflection, Muslims are encouraged to not only refrain from food and drink, but also from selfish desire and wrong-doing.

Susan continued in a later clip: 'May we leave it better people than we started it'

Raised a Christian, Susan switched to the Baptist Church as a teenager, but later became a Muslim when she was 19.

Susan met Waleed when they were both 16, and the couple tied the knot in 2002.

When Waleed, 39, won the coveted Gold Logie in 2016 for Best Personality On Australian Television, he thanked his wife during his acceptance speech.

Susan and Waleed share two children, daughter Aisha, 14, and son Zayd, 10.
