Fans were quick to point out the newborn appears to be wearing a Champions League-themed babygrow.

Bale’s Real play Liverpool in the Champions League final in Kiev on May 26 as the Spanish giants look to win the tournament for a fourth time in five years.

Bale and his fiancee Emma Rhys-Jones already have two daughters, five-year-old Alba and Nava, two.

The couple only announced the pregnancy in March, when Bale posted the news on Twitter with an image of a baby-gro, teddy and socks and the caption: ‘Baby number 3 coming soon’.

Axel’s birth completes a memorable 48 hours for Bale after he scored a brilliant equaliser for Real in Sunday’s Clasico against Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

Wales striker Gareth, 28, who earns £300,000-a-week, and Emma have reportedly booked Beyonce to sing at their wedding later in the summer.

The new baby will also provide a boost for the family, who have been dogged by heartbreak over the last few years.

Emma’s father was jailed in the US for fraud, her elderly grandparents were caught up in a drugs fraud over a missing suitcase contains £750,000, and her sister’s partner killed himself while being investigated by social services.

A family source said: ‘Emma’s had a bad run of things happen to her family and there’s been a lot of upset and tears. But the new baby and the wedding will give her a lot to be happy about.”

Gareth signed for a world record transfer fee of £85.3m when he went from Spurs to Real Madrid in 2013.
