Wallabies great Kurtley Beale spotted walking his baby in Sydney after gaining permission to play rugby in France while waiting for next court appearance over alleged sexual assault at Bondi pub

  • Comes ahead of trial in January for alleged sexual assault
  • Beale, 34, denies the allegations, said ‘truth will come out’

Wallabies star Kurtley Beale has been spotted walking his baby son at Tamarama Beach in Sydney’s east as he awaits his trial in January for alleged sexual assault.

Beale, 34, will plead not guilty to the charges stemming from a night out at Beach Road Hotel at Bondi last December.

He was charged with two counts of sexually touch another person without consent, incite another to sexually touch them without consent, and sexual intercourse without consent.

Seeing Beale on local shores on Friday was puzzling after he was granted permission in August to potentially play rugby in France as part of adjusted bail conditions.

The alleged victim claimed to police in the Tweed/Byron Police District she was followed into the pub bathroom on December 17 by Beale, who then allegedly forced her to perform a sex act on him.

A few weeks before the alleged assault, his son – also named Kurtley Beale – was born in October.

Beale was then charged in January, and strenuously denies the allegations.

He told media in June he was devastated by the accusations.

‘I’m not guilty. The allegation has been falsely [brought] against me and the truth will come out,’ he said.

The gifted playmaker represented Australia at three World Cups — in 2011, 2015 and 2019.

He also won the John Eales medal in 2011 for Wallabies’ Player of the Year.

Due to the legal proceedings, Rugby Australia suspended Beale from all forms of the sport in January, a week after he took part in a 44-man Wallabies training camp.

Beale was expected to be given a fresh lease of life under re-appointed Wallabies coach Eddie Jones, and was likely to feature in a fourth World Cup given his experience and utility value.

Jones previously spoke of the veteran’s unique talent on the field.

‘Kurtley is the most wonderfully gifted player,’ he said. ‘He does things other players don’t even dream of.’

Beale will next face court on December 1 before his trial on January 15 next year.
