  • Footy legend has wound back TV commitments

Rugby league icon Wally Lewis has stepped out with his girlfriend Lynda Adams, with the pair looking smitten as she wore a very impressive piece of jewellery while they left Brisbane Airport last week.

The couple began dating in early 2021, shortly after the man known as ‘The King’ announced his divorce from ex-wife Jacqui after they shared 36 years and three children together.

Palmer, who works as a freelance writer and miscarriage support group volunteer, sported a large, eye-catching ring on her right hand, which wasn’t seen the last time the couple were pictured stepping out during a romantic night out in Brisbane a two weeks ago.

On that occasion Lewis was seen wrapping his arm around his partner’s shoulder as they waited in line at a restaurant.

Lewis’s children Mitchell, Jamie-Lee and former Home and Away star Lincoln reportedly sided with their mother when the marriage break-up rocked the footy world in February 2021.

The trio stopped talking to their father at the time, the Daily Telegraph reported.

‘Lincoln and his mum have always been very tight… he’s very much his mother’s boy,’ a friend told the newspaper.

Logie winner Lincoln reportedly had his mother to thank for supporting his acting career.

‘She was the one who really encouraged him to pursue acting and always took a much bigger [parenting] role in his life,’ the friend said.

‘He has always been open about that with people close to him. He has been known to say that he was raised by his mother.’

At the time of the split, Lewis announced: ‘This is a deeply personal matter that we do not want to discuss publicly.

‘I want to acknowledge the pain and upset my family has gone through since Jacqui and I separated last year. I hope over time we can rebuild our ties and move on with life.’

The State of Origin legend left his longtime role as Channel Nine’s Queensland sports presenter in January, citing health reasons.

‘My health has made decisions for me in the past so it’s my turn to make decisions for my health,’ Lewis said.

‘While I’ll take more of a backseat role in the studio, Nine News viewers can still expect me to keep them up-to-date on the highs and lows of local and international sport, and of course share my weekly NRL tips.’

The former Kangaroos captain, however, dismissed the suggestion he could call time on his TV career, and he’ll be staying with the broadcaster.
