Labor Day is now behind us, which means winter is fast approaching. For some stores, it’s the start of the build-up to Christmas.
Walmart has kicked off its holiday marketing early by releasing its predictions for the hottest toys of the 2017 festive season.
Parents who didn’t manage to land 2016’s hottest toy Hatchimals will have a second chance this year with the impending release of Hatchimals Surprise.
The list also includes Star Wars themed toys, coinciding with the December release of the next installment, The Last Jedi.
Walmart is the biggest toy retailer in the nation and it based its list on the preferences of children ranging in age from 18 months to 12 years.
The most popular toys are again expected to be based on top television and film characters
Anne Marie Kehoe, vice president of toys for Walmart U.S., also says items children can engage with, collect, or hop on for a ride, will fly off the shelves.
Walmart will offer 1,000 new toys this holiday season, including 300 exclusives. The retail chain will battle competitors Target, Toys R Us and Kmart who are well known for having exclusive toys.
