Wannanup road rage attack: Grandfather allegedly punched and kicked in shocking attack captured on CCTV south-west of Perth

An elderly grandfather has recalled the terrifying moment he was punched and kicked by a motorcyclist while on his way to the beach.

Sporting a black eye, Alan White, 91, was still visibly shaken almost 24 hours after the harrowing ordeal in Wannanup south-west of Perth as he bravely returned to the scene.

A man, 70, has since been charged after WA Police released confronting CCTV of the shocking road rage incident in a beachside carpark on Friday afternoon.

Mr White was getting out of his red SUV when an motorcycle pulled up beside him.

CCTV shows Mr White walking away as the rider kicks the side of the car before confronting the grandfather of seven. 

Mr White tries to stand his ground before he’s punched in the face several times and falls to the ground, where he’s repeatedly kicked.

 The motorcylist then drives off, leaving the retiree lying on the ground bleeding and injured.

‘I went to get out of my car and this bike pulled up alongside me, I think it was a Harley and this bloke got off,’ Mr White told reporters.

‘I couldn’t understand what he was saying because he had a helmet on and scarf around his face.

‘I walked away and the next thing I know I hear a bang when he kicked the side of my car.

‘And, anyway, I’m not quite certain … he must have laid a couple on me.

‘I remember picking myself up and I remember him kicking me … the b*****d.’

Mr White doesn’t know why he was allegedly attacked.

‘I could pick up he was saying something about I’d cut him off,’ he said.

‘But I’d just taken the boys over the course from my place to here. And I can’t see where I cut anybody off.”

‘I couldn’t understand what his problem was. But he was a nasty bit of work wasn’t he?’ 

 Mr White drove home and was later taken to Peel Health Campus to be treated for concussion and soft tissue injuries.

Police branded the alleged attack as ‘disgusting’.

‘This type of behaviour is simply unacceptable in our community and especially, the vulnerable members of our community,’ Acting Inspector Steven Jones said.

‘We won’t tolerate this type of behaviour.’

WA Police has since charged a 70-year-old man with one one count of aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of criminal damage.

He will appear in Mandurah Magistrates Court on September 15.
