A US woman who put her faith in a product loved by cleaning influencer Mrs Hinch has claimed she was left dismayed when it made one particular problem much worse.

The paste can be used on most surfaces in all areas of the home, including tiles, glass, paintwork, outdoor furniture, cooktops, ovens, pots and pans, door handles, sinks, baths, showers, BBQs and even trainers.
However in a TikTok video entitled ‘Do not use The Pink Stuff on your car to get rid of scraps or anything else’, Liya (@liya.leelee) revealed that the popular product had not only failed to remove the scratches but also left additional blemishes on her vehicle.

Mrs Hinch fans often share their own recommendations and Liya had got the idea to use The Pink Stuff on her car after she saw a video with someone praising the product for that exact use.
The product is very easy to use, simply leave a layer of the pink paste on stubborn stains for a few minutes before gently wiping off with a dry cloth.
The sell-out product has been so popular on social media, ‘thepinkstuff’ hashtag has been used more than 90 million times on TikTok.
Liya was absolutely convinced by the video and swiftly followed suit, using circular motions to spread the product ‘on everything’.
‘Monkey see, monkey do’, she said as she she lathered The Pink Stuff on with a macrofibre cloth.
But, whilst it initially seemed like the product was ‘actually working’ with the car looking ‘shiny’ and ‘amazing’, Liya explained that the following morning she found brand new marks that followed her circular cleaning motions.
As someone who relies on the product for a wide range of household chores, she was left dumbfounded by what happened.
Still, that’s not to say she received much sympathy in the comments section beneath her post.
One person commented harshly, asking: ‘Why would anyone think an abrasive cleaning product would remove scratches?’

While another pointed out: ‘Its like basically liquid sandpaper’.
Others, however, did share her pain, with one person admitting: ‘Girl same! it left ugly smudge marks on my car that wouldn’t come off’.
Others took the opportunity to offer their own tried-and-tested tips for removing scrapes and scratches from cars.
One wrote: ‘Toothpaste works amazing to get scratches off’.
Another said: ‘Use acetone, it comes of so easily!!’
Although the Pink Stuff website advises that the product can be used on ‘saucepans, cooker tops, sinks, uPVC, barbecues, ceramic tiles, glass, showers, garden furniture, paintwork, boats, brass and rust,’ it makes no mention of cars.
Thousands are swearing by the product for removing stubborn marks, baked-in stains and even rusty items including doorknobs, knockers and handles, towel rails, toasters, kettles, sinks and bins.
Shoppers also using the paste on wheels and frames from old bicycles or scooters to bring the piece back to life while the product works well on lifting rust off outdoor metal chairs and tables to make them shining like new again.
