More than 10,000 Americans submitted issue reports to DownDectector, a site that monitors online outages – but there were likely more considering other countries were also hit.

On X, #Instagramdown was trending with thousands of reports.

One X users joked: ‘#instagramdown so just tell me what you ate for lunch instead.’

The posts was a nod to the popularity of people sharing images of food on Instagram.

Instagram users reported their videos are being deleted in the app instead of sharing to their Feed.

Others found Reels was showing a blank, black screen.

DownDetector showed 79 percent of reports stem from the app, 19 percent from Feed and three percent of users are experiencing problems with the website.

Some users may still be experiencing issues.
