Watch as Mariners invite kids from Seattle hospital to hand out signed baseball cards… to MLB stars

It was the turn of Seattle Mariners players to be autograph hunters before Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Tigers.

In a heartwarming gesture, MLB stars hosted kids from the Seattle Children’s Hospital at T-Mobile Park and signed cards for the lucky group.

But there was a twist, with the children handing out personalized Topps cards for the players, too. The specially-made cards carried the kids’ name and picture.

Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger was credited with organizing the event, a clip of which was posted on social media on Tuesday.

It showed a row of children sitting at the top of table of the interview room at T-Mobile Park. 

They had marker pens and boxes of Topps cards in front of them and the kids could be seen signing them as Mariners players waited across the table.

‘This is my last one,’ star shortstop JP Crawford could be heard telling teammate Luke Raley as a young boy added his signature to a card.

‘I need one from him too,’ Raley added, prompting Crawford to tell the kid: ‘You’re high in demand over here!’

The clip spread on social media on Tuesday, with the Mariners players drawing praise for their work with the Seattle community. 

‘This is something really special to my heart. I was once one of those Seattle CHMC kids. I spent a lot of time at that hospital,’ one fan wrote.

‘Other teams could learn a big lesson from this group,’ another said, while a fan added: ‘Well ain’t this the most wholesome thing ever ? Good on Mitch to set this up, great idea.’
