Buddy Franklin’s reaction said it all after Sydney Swans teammate Tom Hickey produced a moment on Friday night he will be keen to forget.

The ruckman, 31, somehow missed a set kick late in the second quarter at the SCG that Franklin could have kicked with his eyes closed.

Sitting in the coaches box Franklin was visibly stunned, and the glaring miss proved costly, with the hosts and Geelong playing out a 54-54 draw.

‘I thought in the first half we played some really good footy and we just didn’t hit the scoreboard.

‘Then we got eight points down and fought back, so it’s a strange one, you don’t know how to feel after games like that.

‘It could have been worse, we could have been sitting here without two points.’

Predictably, Swans fans didn’t mince their words on social media when it came to the Swans’ inaccuracy.

‘Tom Hickey has dead set missed from a place the Auskicker at half time would kick 99/100. Sydney are butchering this,’ one supporter fumed.

Another spoke for many when he simply tweeted ‘I could kick better than this.’

The Swans will hope to add spearhead Franklin to their misfiring forward line when they next face Richmond on July 6 in a must win clash.

They sit in 12th spot after 16 rounds, with the two drawn points lifting the Cats into the top eight.
