Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s sprawling £20million Cheshire mansion is almost ready

Work on Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s sprawling Cheshire mansion is finally nearing completion, more than two years after plans to develop the 40-acre estate got underway.

New pictures from the site show the two building property in a near-habitable state, with the scaffolding that previously surrounded it dismantled, fresh masonry adorning its extension and sliding sash windows looking out at the picturesque Cheshire countryside.

But while work draws to a close, a team of builders continue to work on the property’s numerous interior spaces, among them six enormous bedrooms.

Its two outbuildings, situated on either side of the main property, also appear to be in a state of near completion as contractors endeavour to finish the project ahead of schedule.

Elsewhere the roof has been fully tiled, a vast difference to its tarpaulin covered appearance 12 months ago.

Wayne and Coleen planned to move house for months after the family were left shaken when burglars broke into their home last August.

Previous images of the 40-acre site, taken in May, showed builders working on the roof, with all three floors of the sprawling property erected but a long way from completion.

The vast landscape was first pictured during snowfall in December 2017, but showed the construction on the ground floor was well under way.

The lavish home is said will feature its own bar, snooker room, cinema and indoor swimming pool.

Enormous: The house will have six bedrooms, all with en-suites, big enough to accommodate their four sons, Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass

MailOnline previously reported that a wine cellar and football pitch are also being constructed on the sprawling pile.

Guests will be able to opt for ‘his’ or ‘hers’ changing rooms, and after a dip they can pop outside to the extensive patio and landscaped gardens.

When completed, the property will have two floors as well as a subterranean basement, which will be home to the steam room, hot-tub, gym, cinema room with ten seats, wine cellar and snooker room with bar.

Plans for the new home were already in place before Wayne’s drink-drive conviction threatened to rock their nine-year marriage.

Wayne was caught behind the wheel of officer worker Laura Simpson’s Volkswagen in September 2017, and she later said she planned to have sex with the England star if they had not been stopped by police.

After months of speculation that her marriage was on the rocks, Coleen released a defiant statement via Facebook, confirming that they were due to work on it and stay together.

Big move: Aprompted a move away from England and potential three and a half year stay in the United States.
