Wedding planning owner Salim Mehajer’s new love interest

Disgraced former deputy mayor Salim Mehajer has teased a new love interest to his 192,000 followers on social media.

Mr Mehajer, 31, took to Instagram on Sunday to post a photo of a woman with long brunette hair sitting across from him at a table.

The embattled property developer proudly captioned the photo with four red love heart emojis.

But in an apparent attempt to hide the woman’s identity, he covered her face with a monkey emoji and also blurred the woman’s left wrist.

The photo comes amid business uncertainty for the Sydney identity.

The Australian Securities and Investment Commission announced it was ‘making inquiries’ into whether Mr Mehajer’s new wedding planning business was in breach of an order made against him.

Mr Mehajer was banned from managing companies for three years in November 2015 after two of his property-development firms collapsed.

The two failed business ventures put Mr Mehajer in more than $1 million debt with the Australian Taxation Office.

Mr Mehajer could continue to operate the business because there is no law preventing a banned director from owning a company,The Australian reported.

The embattled property developer created Mehajer Wedding and Event Planning in September together with Ahmed Jaghbir, 28, who, in a matter unrelated to Mr Mehajer, was last week charged with the murder of a gangland figure.

The business comes two years after he tied the knot with his now estranged wife Aysha Learmonth in August 2015, in a so-called ‘wedding of the century’.

The elaborate ceremony boasted helicopters, dozens of luxury cars and illegally shut down an entire street in Sydney’s west, prompting public outrage.

Despite the backlash and the public breakdown of his marriage, Mr Mehajer has defiantly promoted his new wedding planning business on social media.

‘Exciting news – it’s been over a year in the making, we the Mehajer family have decided to release our very own product line and services,’ he said on Instagram.

‘Whilst we are all very occupied with our day to day jobs, with our skill of creative, we make use of our education and passion to dream as we aim to take our hobby to the next level.’

Mr Mehajer’s business associate Ahmed Jaghbir is also well-known to the authorities.

Mr Jaghbir, sole director of Mr Mehajer’s wedding planning business, was arrested last week over the murder of an outlaw motorcycle gang member.

Mr Jaghbir was charged with the execution-style shooting of Sydney underworld figure Kemel Barakat.

Barakat, 29, was shot multiple times as he slept in his bed at his Mortlake home at about 2.30am on March 10.

There will be no law preventing Mr Jaghbir from staying on as director of Mehajer Wedding and Event Planning even if he is convicted of the murder.

There is no suggestion Mr Mehajer was involved in the murder of Barakat.
