Welcome to Wrexham series three is coming to Disney+ as residents of its namesake town in Wales say the show has turned their city into a ‘must see’ tourist destination

Welcome to Wrexham series three is coming soon to Disney+ and citizens of its namesake town in Wales say the show has turned their town into a tourist hotspot.

This gripping series follows Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as they revive the legendary Wrexham Football Club and was filmed on location in Wales.

Residents of the small Welsh city – population 45,000 – have credited the series with renewing interest in their hometown, with millions of tourists now coming to visit.

‘The town was derelict before them two – Ryan and Rob – came along. They chose us and we all thank them,’ a local resident told 9Honey.

The first two seasons of Welcome to Wrexham are now available to stream only on Disney+.

Other residents told Nine the show has almost single-handedly transformed their hometown from a ‘very depressed city’ to a thriving hotspot.

‘No one used to come here, in fact people used to say not to go to Wrexham. That’s all changed now,’ one person said.

In November, Disney+ announced that the Emmy nominated hit docuseries will return for series three in the second quarter of 2024.

The series follows the efforts of Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds to return Wrexham AFC to glory.

Since the duo have taken over as co-chairman, the club has gone from the fifth tier National League to League Two in the Football League.

Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, said: ‘The wild global success of Welcome to Wrexham is a testament to the courage and vision of Rob and Ryan, the dogged spirit of the Red Dragons, and the hope and devotion of the people of Wrexham.

‘It’s a story that has only begun to be told and one that everyone can continue to follow along with in the third season.

‘Our thanks to the creative team who captured these thrilling moments and everyone who achieved what seemed impossible only a short time ago.’
