‘Went to class with class’: UCL student goes viral after bringing a ‘bottle of whisky’ and a glass into a lecture

Pens, paper and laptops are all things you would expect people to bring into a university lecture.

But one exhausted student packed up what appears to be a bottle booze – along with a specialty glass.

A now-deleted viral TikTok  from @bankrollsuf captured the hilarious moment at University College London (UCL) seemed to demonstrate just how trying academia can be.

Commenters were in stitches at the clip, which has more than 1.1million views, as some eagle-eyed connoisseurs claimed that the mystery drink was in fact Macallan whisky, with bottles costing from £65 to £6,250.

The video shows a student sat in a lecture, with his phone and open laptop – alongside the amber suspected liquor bottle, half of which is gone.

‘How’s my man backing up a glass of wine in the middle of a lecture,’ a voiceover says. ‘What the hell.’

Social media went wild at the clip, many offering their solidarity with the student, and praising his ‘class’.

‘That’s not wine,’ one spirits-savvy user said. ‘That’s a bottle of Macallan gold whisky.’

‘He going thru it but in a classic way’ another poster sympathised.

A third remarked: ‘Bro’s classy with it.’

The post from this week comes as Britain is back in a mini-lockdown today, with 500,000 public sector workers – including 300,000 teachers – on strike for ‘Walkout Wednesday’.

More than seven million children are missing lessons on the biggest day of strikes for over a decade.

An estimated 85 per cent of English and Welsh state schools – up to 23,000 in all –  closed their doors to some or all of their pupils, who will be forced to stay at home with their striking teachers not setting them work.

On ‘Walkout Wednesday’, the striking teachers will join 100,000 civil servants, 70,000 university staff and thousands of train drivers and border force staff in staging industrial action.

It is expected to cost the economy £200million and amount to a ‘mini-lockdown’, with 500,000 workers in total walking off the job and millions of people forced to work from home.

Children of teachers and supporters were urged to make ‘strike boxes’ containing food and drink to sustain the picket lines.

Other pupils were asked to make placards, with one teacher’s child shown by the National Education Union declaring: ‘Tax the rich’. Children were also seen on picket lines this morning.
