West Ham suffer major injury blow as captain and top scorer Jarrod Bowen suffers fractured foot in latest setback for Julen Lopetegui’s side

West Ham have been dealt a major injury blow with Jarrod Bowen having been confirmed to have suffered a fractured foot in their defeat by Liverpool.

The Hammers announced Bowen’s injury in a brief statement on their website.

‘West Ham United can confirm Jarrod Bowen sustained a fractured foot injury in Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool,’ the statement read.

‘The injury to his left foot, picked up in the first half at London Stadium, will sideline the Hammers captain heading into the New Year.’

Bowen had been forced off on the hour mark of West Ham’s dismal 5-0 home defeat by Liverpool on Sunday.

The England international had limped off following a challenge with Alexis Mac Allister.

West Ham have not revealed how long Bowen is expected to be out for, but the captain’s absence will be another major blow to Julen Lopetegui’s side.

Bowen is the Hammers’ top scorer in the Premier League this season with five goals in 19 matches.

He has also registered four assists in the top flight so far this campaign, the only West Ham player to have laid on more than one goal.
