West Tigers rugby league star is charged with MURDER over long-running mystery of young man stabbed to death in broad daylight

A junior member of the West Tigers NRL has been charged with the murder of Dejan ‘Danny the Serb’ Radulovic.

Masei Tavui, 19, allegedly stabbed and shot Radulovic, 29, on Donnelly St in Balmain, in Sydney’s inner-west, on July 29.

After a two-and-a-half month investigation, police raided a home in Austral, in the city’s south-west, on Tuesday about 7.15am.

They seized ‘clothing relevant to the investigation’ and led Tavui out in handcuffs.

He was taken to Liverpool police station and charged with one count of murder.

He was denied bail in Liverpool Local Court on Tuesday.

Tavui was a member of the Wests Tigers junior for about four years and played a back-rower in the under-19s competition last year.

He was not contracted to the club for 2024.

On the day of the alleged murder in July, police will allege he fled the scene in a white Jeep, before dumping it and setting it alight on a residential street in nearby Five Dock.

The alleged victim was raced to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and underwent emergency surgery, but doctors were unable to save his life.

Radulovic was on parole for drug supply at the time, and police suspect the attack was a drug-related dispute.
