West Wing actors hit back at White House Press Secretary

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders joked how her life had turned into an episode of the West Wing, but her comparison was not kindly received by some of the cast.

Sanders posted images of the traditional pardoning of a turkey in the White House, alluding to a similar event on the TV show.

She was immediately slammed on social media by West Wing actor Bradley Whitford for seemingly comparing herself to Allison Janney’s press secretary C.J. Gregg.

Sanders tweeted pictured of herself and four-year-old son Huck with the turkey pardoned by President Trump.

She wrote: ‘We had a surprise visitor in my office today and got to live a real life version of an episode of the ‘West Wing’.’

She appeared to compare her day in the office to an episode of the West Wing when press secretary C.J. Gregg has two turkeys dropped off in her office and has to decide which one should be pardoned by President Jed Bartlet, played by Martin Sheen.

Within a few hours,  actor Bradley Whitford, who played Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman responded to her tweet.

Janney herself replied: ‘Thanks for having my back Josh, love C.J.’

This is the second Thanksgiving-related social media battle the press secretary has had to fight in a matter of days after being accused of lying about baking a pecan pie for her family.

Sanders shared a suspiciously picture perfect pie on Twitter, captioned: ‘I dont cook much these days, but managed this Chocolate Pecan Pie for Thanksgiving at the family farm!’

White House correspondent April Ryan was one of many who mercilessly mocked Sanders for allegedly using a stock image of a pie.

‘I am not trying to be funny but folks are already saying #piegate and #fakepie Show it to us on the table with folks eating it and a pic of you cooking it. I am getting the biggest laugh out of this. I am thankful for this laugh on Black Friday!’

Sanders did not offer any proof of having baked the pie, but instead replied: ‘Don’t worry @AprilDRyan because I’m nice I’ll bake one for you next week 😉 #RealPie #FakeNews.’
