Western Australia has recorded more than 1,000 Covid cases for the first time since the pandemic began.
The state’s chief health officer Andy Robertson told ABC local radio 1,043 cases were detected in the 24 hours to 8pm on Thursday.
The state has just 12 people in hospital with the virus, and none in the intensive care unit.
Premier Mark McGowan has announced the state will open its border to the rest of Australia on March 5 and has introduced a slate of new restrictions.
