Westfield Fountain Gate stabbing: Woman allegedly knifed while waiting for a bus in Narre Warren, Melbourne

A 34-year-old man has been charged after allegedly stabbing a woman near a bus stop outside a Westfield shopping centre in Melbourne’s south east. 

The woman, 35, was waiting near a bus stop on Overland Drive outside Westfield Fountain Gate in Narre Warren at about 5.20pm on Sunday when she was attacked.

Emergency services rushed to the scene where paramedics treated the woman before taking her to Alfred Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

It is understood the woman is in a serious but stable condition.

Police searched the area outside the centre and initially did not find the alleged offender. 

A 34-year-old man from Croydon was arrested in the neighbouring suburb of Hallam shortly after the alleged stabbing.

Police charged the man with intentionally cause injury, possess controlled weapon and theft.

He is set to appear before Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
