Westfield stabbing, Doncaster: Man is knifed in shopping centre in front of little girl

Two men have been stabbed in a vicious attack inside a busy shopping centre in full view of terrified onlookers.

CCTV footage shows a little girl watching on in horror as a man lying on the ground has a large knife plunged into his torso as he’s repeatedly kicked by another attacker.

Emergency services rushed to the Westfield shopping centre in Doncaster, Melbourne’s north-west about 6:45pm on Saturday.

One man, 21, was taken to hospital in a serious condition while another man of the same age was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Three men, aged 17, 18 and 19, alleged to have taken part in the incident were arrested shortly after. All three have been released on bail.

The 18 and 19-year-old will return to Ringwood Magistrate’s Court on March 8 next year while the 17-year-old will face children’s court at a later date.

Victoria Police confirmed the 19-year-old was charged with intentionally and recklessly cause injury, reckless conduct endanger serious injury, possess controlled weapon, theft and affray.

The 17-year-old faced similar charges of intentionally cause injury, reckless conduct endanger serious injury, affray, possess cannabis and possess controlled weapon while the 18-year-old was charged with affray, theft and bail offences.

Police believe that both parties were unknown to each other at the time of the attack.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be established.

Police said investigations remain ongoing.
