Westworld’s Thandie Newton cuts casual figure as she lands in London

She recently revealed she had been promised the same salary as her male co-stars on Westworld, an ‘unprecedented’ move in Hollywood.

And following the second season of the sci-fi show’s debut, Thandie Newton was spotted touching down in London on Monday, cutting a casual figure as she arrived at Heathrow airport.

The actress, 45, was wrapped up in a stylish grey coat and a black beanie hat for her flight.

Thandie – who plays host Maeve on the hit HBO series – embraced a comfy vibe, donning a pair of patterned leggings and a soft grey jumper.

She showed off her youthful complexion with natural make-up and added a quirky touch to her ensemble thanks to a pair of fashion-forward trainers.

Speaking at season two’s Tribeca Film Festival premiere in New York on Thursday, Thandie told Vanity Fair the contract negotiations are ‘happening right now, and yeah, we’re all equal across the board.

‘It’s really exciting. It’s unprecedented. It’s, goodness, it shatters so much calcified pain, resentment, frustration. It just shatters it,’ she added.

The pay hikes won’t kick in until 2019.

But the British star is so fired up by HBO’s commitment to pay equality, that she vowed to turn down projects that offer her anything less than what her male counterparts earn in the future.

‘F*** that. It literally sets a precedent, and [HBO is] leading the way, which is amazing,’ she said.

Evan Rachel Wood, 30, who plays Dolores, revealed that she had received the pay hike in an interview with The Wrap, posted on Monday.

‘I almost got emotional,’ she said. ‘I was like, I’ve never been paid the same as my male counterparts. This is the first time that somebody made a point of being like, “Hey, you’re getting this. And you deserve it.” And that was nice.’

Meanwhile Jeffrey Wright, who plays the park’s overseer Bernard, was also at the premiere and said he backed equal pay.

‘I just think it’s pretty obvious that we all work on this show well. We work hard,’ the 52-year-old said.

‘If you work 16 hours and you’re a woman, it’s the same 16 hours that you work if you’re a man. So it just all makes sense to me. It’s as it should be.’

Westworld returns to HBO on Sunday.
