What cricket star Adam Zampa’s bizarre tattoo means as he gets inked to celebrate Australia’s World Cup win

  • Adam Zampa’s latest tattoo is a nod to comedian Larry David
  • Off-spinner shared new ink to his social media followers
  • The 31-year-old was a standout at ODI World Cup last year
  • Snared 23 wickets as Australia lifted the trophy in India

Aussie cricket star Adam Zampa has always been a colourful individual – and his latest tattoo literally illustrates why.

Zampa, 31, took to Instagram on Thursday to show off the latest ink on his thigh, and it gives new meaning to the term left-field.

The off-spinner opted for a depiction of Larry David – the genius behind TV hits Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm – bizarrely holding the T20 and ODI World Cup trophies Zampa has won dating back to 2021.

It came with the accompanying tagline ‘Pretty Good’, a one-liner often used by David in his famed comedy sketches.

Renowned Melbourne tattoo artist Mick Squires completed the design, which Zampa is said to be delighted with.

On his Instagram story, a cheeky Zampa added the headline ‘Prettay prettay prettay pretty good’, mimicking David’s famous line.

Many of Zampa’s social media followers were raving about the uniqueness of his fresh tattoo.

‘Adam Zampa is a real one,’ Vithushan Ehantharajah, associate editor of ESPNcricinfo, wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Another fan posted: ‘Adam Zampa simply has the best vibes of any cricketer to ever live.’

It comes after Zampa wildly celebrated – mainly with Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell – after winning the ODI World Cup on Indian soil last year.

After snaring 23 wickets across the tournament, Zampa mocked Australian cricket legend Michael Clarke on social media after the former captain wrote off the team’s chances following two early defeats against India and South Africa.

Zampa also attracted plenty of negative headlines after he refused to sing the national anthem before a number of matches on the subcontinent.
