What happens to us when we die?

Besides the obvious, there are a number of things that can happen when you die, some you do not have control over, and some that you do – that is if you have a will!

By writing a will you can have a say in everything from your funeral service to who will have legal custody of your children as well as where your estate and other assets will go once you are gone. Whilst these are the most important aspects of a will, there are other things you can control just by having them written in this single legal document.

According to a new survey carried out by online will experts; Beyond, revealed some interesting stats about what people in the UK would leave in their wills…

  • 24% of Brits would leave money to a charity in their will – the most popular being Great Ormand Street Hospital
  • 38% of women would leave funeral wishes in their will, in comparison to 28% of men
  • Almost 1 in 6 under 35’s would consider using their will to settle an old score

Unfortunately, there are currently 65% of people in the UK living without a will, those of which, could lose everything if they die without one!
