What Larry Emdur’s alleged stalker told security after being arrested at Channel 7 building – as he is slapped with a restraining order

A Victorian man who entered the Channel 7 building and said ‘I’m here to shake Larry Emdur’s hand’ must stay at least 2km from the Gold Logie-winning star under the terms of a restraining order, a court has been told.

Police took out an apprehended violence order [AVO] to protect The Morning Show co-host, 59, against Victorian man Rodney Pearce following an incident at the network’s Sydney building on August 22.

A court was told on Monday that Pearce gained entry to the building by following security through a gate and then an employee into a lift.

He was escorted from the building by security and when confronted he said: ‘I’m here to shake Larry Emdur’s hand.’

Pearce was arrested and taken to hospital for assessment before he was charged by police and an AVO was taken out on Emdur’s behalf.

On Monday morning in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court, magistrate Greg Grogin finalised the AVO in Pearce’s absence. Neither Pearce nor his legal representative were present in court.

Mr Grogin told the court the police application showed there was a good reason why the AVO should be granted.

Under the conditions of the order, Pearce must not approach or contact Emdur.

He is barred from going within 2km of any place where Emdur lives or works, in particular the Channel 7 building. Pearce was also charged with trespass and possession of a prohibited drug.

In the Downing Centre Local Court earlier this month, he was fined $550 after the matter proceeded in his absence. No plea was recorded.

Emdur won the Gold Logie on August 18.

He took to Instagram earlier this month to slam tabloid magazines for publishing sensationalised headlines on the ‘stalking’ matter.

He assured fans he is ‘fine’ and still ‘in a Logies afterglow’ before adding that headlines claiming he and his family are ‘in danger’ are ‘just not right’.

‘I just wanted to jump on and iron something out very quickly. There’s a whole lot of noise in the magazines about this,’ Emdur said in the clip.

The Chase host then held up a magazine to show the column written about his alleged stalker and reports the NSW Police took out an AVO to protect Emdur.

‘”Stalker warned. Leave Larry alone!”‘ Emdur read. ‘This whole thing. It’s a whole big deal. ” Larry Emdur , living in fear.” I just wanted to let you know, I’m fine!

‘I’m beyond fine. I’m still very much in a Logies afterglow and loving it! The Morning Show is going great, The Chase is going great, my whiskey is going great.

‘Everything in my life is absolutely fantastic. So, when you read something like this, “Larry Emdur living in fear! His family in danger,” it’s not right.’

He added: ‘It’s not what’s going on in my life… Anyway, thank you for your concern. I am completely 100 per cent fine. It is absolutely business as usual.’
