What Scott Disick really thinks about Kourtney Kardashian’s rift with son Mason – as insiders reveal what sparked ‘deep divide’ between reality star and her eldest child

Scott Disick believes that ex Kourtney Kardashian’s refusal to continue vacationing together is causing a ‘deeper divide’ with their shared children – particularly their eldest son Mason, according to sources close to the reality star family.

Kourtney was left heartbroken when her 14-year-old son Mason refused to join her and new husband Travis Barker on a family trip to Australia, confessing in a recent episode of The Kardashians that his decision to skip the vacation and remain home with his father had ‘made her really sad’.

Now, insiders are lifting the lid on 41-year-old Scott’s feelings about the apparent rift between Mason and Kourtney, 45, claiming that the reality star fears his ex is at risk of ‘creating a deeper divide’ with all of their shared children by cutting their dad out of their family trips with her new partner Travis, 48.

‘Scott knows that Mason didn’t want to go on vacation with his mom because of Travis,’ a source told DailyMail.com.

‘Before Travis came along, Scott and Kourtney were vacationing together with the kids – not as a couple, but as friends who were both dedicated to their kids.

‘This is obviously not going to happen again and Scott thinks that Travis should not have a problem with family vacations if he was comfortable in his marriage. Heck, he could even come if he wanted to.’

‘Instead of doing co-parenting the way that they used to, Scott believes that she is creating a deeper divide between herself and her kids with Scott,’ the source revealed.

‘Mason is a classic example of this. He lives with his dad and Scott would gladly let any of his children live with him. It is a much more stable environment.’

DailyMail.com has contacted spokespersons for Scott, Kourtney, and Travis for comment.

Scott made clear his incredibly close bond with Mason earlier this week when he shared an image of the two of them traveling home from vacation together on a private jet, referring to the teen as his ‘best friend [for] life’.

The photo was all the more significant given that it was shared just days after Kourtney was seen voicing her heartache over Mason’s refusal to join her and Travis in Australia, where the traveled with her and Scott’s children Penelope, 12, and Reign, nine, as well as their newborn Rocky.

Then, on the most recent episode of The Kardashians, which aired on Thursday, Mason and Kourtney were seen having an awkward exchange, during which the teen appeared to avoid hugging his mom.

Kourtney looked delighted to see him. As she approached him for a hug, she belted out, ‘My son.’

As she wrapper her arms around Mason to give him a squeeze, the teen kept his hands in his pockets and did not hug her back.

Their reunion took place not long after Kourtney and her other children returned from Australia

‘I am in Australia, we made it. We’ve been having the best time. Travis is touring to different cities in Australia for about a week, but because I was on bedrest before, and then having a newborn at home, I haven’t really had any outings with my other kids, so really I wanted to stay in Sydney,’ Kourtney said in the episode.

Kourtney said Mason was ‘home with his dad, which makes me really sad, but I’m making the most of every second.’

In one scene, Kourtney asked her kids, ‘Do we love Australia?’ Penelope nods yes and Reign says, ‘Sure,’ with an exaggerated wink.

Kourtney admits in confession, ‘I’m starting to get a lot of vibes like his dad. I think he’s starting to get that sense of humor. I’m like, just what we need.’

Travis and Kourtney started dating in 2021 and quickly bombarded fans with their very public and passionate love affair, before tying the knot the following year – first in Las Vegas, then Santa Barbara and later in Italy’s idyllic Portofino.

They welcomed their son Rocky in November 2023 – eight years after Kourtney called it quits for good with Scott.

A source previously told DailyMail.com that Travis felt threatened by Kourtney’s long-standing history with the father of her other three children.

‘When Travis got together with Kourtney on the heels of her and Scott’s long romance, he felt threatened by Scott,’ the source said.

‘Travis made it awkward for Scott to be around the family when he was there. His constant kissing and groping of Kourtney was his weapon and he knew that it would keep Scott out of the picture – and it did at the time.

‘Travis needed Scott to know that Kourtney was his now and, as a result, it caused Scott to distance himself from the Kardashians.’

Kourtney started dating Scott in 2006 and their tumultuous relationship was chronicled on the former E! reality show, Keeping up with the Kardashians, with the couple facing cheating allegations and his rehab stints as well as breaking up multiple times before they finally called it quits in 2015.

Scott continued to feature on the show as they navigated co-parenting, and the father-of-three – known affectionately as ‘Lord Disick’ – remained close to Kourtney’s family.

But when the show rebranded to The Kardashians and jumped ship to Hulu in 2022, Kourtney’s relationship with Travis was in full force and Scott revealed he was no longer as close to his ex, admitting it had been ‘a huge adjustment losing her as a best friend.’

Both Travis and Scott appeared on season one, with Kourtney left furious that her ex’s feelings surrounding her engagement was a big storyline.

Scott took a step back in season two, making one cameo, as he did not wish to be portrayed as the ‘villain’ in his ex’s new romance, prompting a backlash from fans, who demanded he return.

After inking a reported $2 million deal with Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner, 68, Scott returned for season three in May 2023. The ‘momager’ made it clear on Instagram that Scott was going nowhere.

‘Scott will NEVER be excommunicated from our family,’ she wrote. ‘He’s the father of my grandchildren and a special part of our family. We love him and this is not true.’

He was welcomed back with open arms by the entire family in season three and was no longer playing the part of the evil ex, but instead taking on the role of his true self – a devoted father who was an integral part of The Kardashian dynasty.

‘Travis’ game plan to get Scott out of the picture backfired tremendously,’ the insider said.

‘He knows that the Kardashian family’s loyalty lies with Scott. Kourtney and Scott’s kids also are very loyal to their father and will always side with Scott when it comes to Travis’ issues with their dad.’

Penelope appeared to reveal her true feelings about her mom and step-dad’s PDA when a mother-daughter table tennis game was cut short by Travis’ need to kiss his wife during an episode in 2022.

‘Mom, no kissing,’ Penelope demanded.

Reign also voiced his discomfort when Travis and Kourtney later started making out at the dinner table in front of him.

‘Ew, guys! Can you guys not kiss in French again,’ he begged.

Kourtney and Travis’s marriage ultimately had a devastating effect on Scott, who packed on serious pounds to cope with depression caused by his former love’s new life.

In March, Scott was spotted looking scary skinny and fans had suspected the admitted addict had turned to drugs to fill the void left by Kourtney.

DailyMail.com was the first to report that it was not, in fact, drugs that caused Scott to become very thin, but the popular diet drug Ozempic.

It was later learned that Scott was on Mounjaro, a drug that shares very similar ingredients as Ozempic. (Mounjaro contains tirzepatide, while Ozempic contains semaglutide.)

The insider told DailyMail.com that he is on his way back to perfect health.

‘Scott recognized that he needed to stop taking Ozempic after seeing the photos of himself and the public outcry over his weight loss,’ the source said.

‘He thought he looked good because he was thinner again – not realizing that this was not healthy. He is now working with a nutritionist to get back on track and not balloon up to the size he was.’
