One of the biggest events in the horse racing calendar is set to take place today with the 2023 Grand National.

Over the course of the three-day meeting, around 150,000 racing fans are expected to attend the action. 

The biggest stars of the sport will meet at Aintree yet again this afternoon to compete for the coveted prize. 

Last year, 50-1 favourite, Noble Yeats, sealed a stunning Grand National win, edging favourite Any Second Now and Delta Work.

When is the Grand National?

The Grand National is one of the world’s most famous steeplechases and the highlight of the three-day meeting.

This year’s Grand National is set to take place later this afternoon, with the race getting underway at 5.515pm.

It will be the sixth of the seven races due to be held today.

At just under four and a half miles, it is the longest race of the whole three-day meeting.
