In August, Pia was unveiled to be The Thong on Channel 10’s The Masked Singer.

After taking off her mask, Pia left judges Abbie Chatfield, Mel B, Dave Hughes and Chrissie Swan stunned, with none of them able to guess her identity.

The judges final guesses included Ruby Rose, Isla Fisher and Iggy Azalea.

Pia revealed her children had no idea it was their mum behind the mask – and James was absolutely shocked to find out the truth.

‘I’m good at keeping secrets, and I did keep it from them,’ Pia told Benjamin Norris’s TV Reload podcast.

‘My son was sitting on the couch and I thought, I’ll video his reaction,’ she explained.

‘Just before it happened I went, “Who do you think it is?” And he said, “Imagine if it’s you”.

‘I don’t know why he said that, he’s never said that before. His little brain exploded! He said, “I said that as a joke, I said that as a joke”.

‘So it was the cutest moment,’ she added proudly.

In 2020, two decades after the release of Looking for Alibrandi, Pia Miranda and Kick Gurry appeared on Today Extra on Monday to reflect on the beloved film.

And there was one part of the movie in particular that seemed to stand out for host Belinda Russell, who asked the actors if the motorcycle scene was ‘as fun as it looked’.

In the memorable scene, Pia and Kick’s characters, Josie and Jacob, rode a motorcycle across Sydney’s Anzac Bridge at night, but both stars confessed it wasn’t quite as it seemed in the movie in real-life.

‘It was so embarrassing! We were on the back of a trailer, they wouldn’t let Kick ride the motorbike, obviously, because he didn’t have a bike license,’ laughed Pia.

‘So we were on the back of a trailer and we weren’t even going that fast, were we, Kick? And people were just laughing at us in cars and pointing at us. It just looked like we were making this bad motorcycle ad.’

Kick, 43, agreed, and confessed he had some serious doubts about how the scene would look in the movie.

‘It really looked like it was going to be extremely goofy, and that was the first appreciation I got for movie magic, because when you saw the movie, you thought, “Wow! That looks so cool!”‘ he explained.

‘But at the time, it was just teenage boys driving past, you know, staying up too late and giving us the finger.’

The actors were also asked if they’d ever consider revisiting the cherished characters, and Kick admitted, ‘I’m in if Pia’s in.’

In an interview with Who magazine, Pia said she always felt like they were creating 'something special' while making the movie

Added Pia: ‘Yeah, me too. I’d love to revisit those characters again. I think it’s just a beautiful thing.’
