What’s next for the cast of Succession?

It’s been called one of the best television series of all time and has made household names out of some of the lesser-known stars.

And after blowing fans away with the final episode, Succession has cemented its place in TV history.

After five years and four seasons fans of the comedy-drama were forced to say goodbye to the Roy family and the characters they loved to hate.

Yet as for the actors themselves, it’s clear this won’t be the last we see of them.

Now, MailOnline examines how the cast of Succession have changed their lives starring on the hit show and what they’ll be getting up to next.

Brian Cox as Logan Roy

Already a household name with an impressive career repertoire spanning from Shakespeare to X-Men, Brian Cox had a legion of fans prior to landing his role as patriarch Logan Roy on Succession.

However, the hit show has only seen his star power rise while also earning him a Golden Globe award and Emmy nomination.

Despite the fact his character was killed off in the third episode of the final season, Brian has still submitted himself for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category at the Emmy Awards.

He has previously been nominated twice in the Lead Actor category in 2020 and 2022 for his portrayal of the media mogul.

At 76 years of age, Brian has no plans to slow down and has joined the cast of audio movie series Unsinkable, which will recreate the true story of cargo ship San Demetrio during World War II.

The actor has also signed on to executive produce and star in Mending The Line, where he will play a Vietnam veteran who teaches a young injured soldier how to fly fish.

Kieran Culkin as Roman Roy

As the younger brother of legendary child actor Macaulay Culkin, Kieran Culkin grew up learning all about the acting industry.

While he did not match his brother’s fame in childhood, he landed roles in films such as Father of the Bride and earned his first Golden Globe nomination with 2002 comedy-drama Igby Goes Down.

His acting career quietened down afterwards, however, and it was his role as Roman Roy in Succession that catapulted him back into the spotlight.

Kieran has already earned two Primetime Emmy nominations for his role and has submitted himself in the Lead Actor category this year.

He was previously up for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2020, where he lost to The Morning Show’s Billy Crudup, and 2022, where he lost to his co-star Matthew Mcfadyen (Tom Wambsgans).

Kieran will next be seen working with Jesse Eisenberg in A Real Pain, which will follow two estranged cousins who travel to Poland after their grandmother dies to see where she came from and end up joining a Holocaust tour.

Matthew Macfadyen as Tom Wambsgans

Having begun his career in the theatre, British actor Matthew Macfadyen went on to pick up a number of small TV roles before landing a leading role in Noughties BBC drama Spooks.

His breakout role came in the 2005 film adaptation of Pride & Prejudice where he played Mr Darcy alongside Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet.

The pair worked together again in 2012 when they starred in Anna Karenina along with Jude Law and Alicia Vikander.

Matthew’s role as Tom Wambsgans saw him receive two a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award before he won the Outstanding Supporting Actor award in 2022.

Tom didn’t slow down with his other work while on the show, taking on the role of Major Charles Ingram in a three-part ITV drama, Quiz in 2020, based on the controversial coughing cheat scandal on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2001.

The actor will next be seen working with Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3.

Alan Ruck as Connor Roy

Already a familiar face in Hollywood, Alan Ruck was instantly recognisable for his role as Ferris Bueller’s best friend Cameron Frye, in the 1986 film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

While he worked continually in the years after he focused mainly on films, making the odd TV appearance with one-off episodes.

Although his role as Connor Roy in Succession was a smaller part than many of his cast members, he instantly became a fan favourite with his character’s deluded self worth.

Despite starring in such a popular series, Alan revealed that he refuses to get swept up in the hysteria, having realised after his role in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off that being in a popular role doesn’t guarantee longterm success.

Yet he’s been keeping busy in recent months and currently has three films in the pipeline, including The Burial – a drama where he will star alongside Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones.

Sarah Snook as Siobhan ‘Shiv’ Roy

Australian actress Sarah Snook began her career on the stage, appearing in King Lear with the State Theatre Company of South Australia in 2009, shortly after graduating from Australia’s most prestigious theatre school, NIDA.

While she went on to work on various Australian TV shows she took her first stab at Hollywood in 2015 when she starred alongside Kate Winslet and Liam Hemsworth in the acclaimed film, The Dressmaker.

That same year, Sarah starred along Kate once again, this time in the Steve Jobs biopic.

However she still wasn’t considered a household name, saying she wasn’t recognised in the street and was only ever asked for selfies at red carpet events.

Following a notable appearance on Black Mirror in 2016, Sarah scored her career-defining role two years later as Shiv Roy in Succession.

She has won several awards including a Golden Globe Award and a Critics’ Choice Television Award, with nominations for two Primetime Emmy Awards.

Sarah will next be seen on screens in The Beanie Bubble starring alongside Elizabeth Banks in a film inspired by the story behind one of the biggest speculative crazes in American culture in the Nineties.

She’ll no doubt be putting any other projects on pause for a while after revealing on the day of the Succession finale that she had welcomed her first child.

Jeremy Strong as Kendall Roy

Jeremy Strong began his acting career in off-Broadway plays before landing his first film role in 2008 comedy drama Humboldt County.

He went on to land roles in Hollywood blockbusters such as Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty, Selma, and The Trial of the Chicago 7.

In 2015 he landed a role in Adam McKay’s The Big Short and after working together the director – who served as execute producer on Succession – brought him on board.

While he initially wanted to play the part of Roman Roy, after the part was given to Kieran Culkin, he auditioned for the part of the middle son Kendall Roy.

He has received universal acclaim from critics for his work and has earned a Emmy and Golden Globe award with his performance.

It’s believed he will be nominated in the Lead Actor category at the 2023 Emmys alongside co-stars Kieran and Brian.

If all three Succession stars will be nominated, it will mark the first time a series has landed three nominations in the Lead Actor category, for drama or comedy shows.

He will next be seen on the stage, returning to his theatre roots in the Amy Herzog adaptation of the Henrik Ibsen play An Enemy of the People on Broadway.

Nicholas Braun as Greg Hirsch

Prior to landing his role in Succession, Nicholas Braun was close to throwing in the towel with his acting career.

Although he’d managed to land a few roles in Hollywood blockbusters such as How To Be Single with Dakota Johnson and The Watch with Vince Vaughn he was struggling to make ends meet.

Having moved back in with his brother in San Francisco, Nicholas considered quitting but shortly afterwards he landed his lifechanging Succession role.

His role as Cousin Greg earned him two Emmy nominations and he picked up a SAG Award for best ensemble in 2022.

Nicholas, who called Succession ‘the greatest working experience of my life’ is now co-writing on a series called One for the Road with Chris Buongiorno.

It’s described as candid and intimate story of a talented but dysfunctional band struggling to survive the rapidly changing landscape of independent music in the early 2000s.
