NEW YORK (AP) – New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio put his legal troubles behind him a year ago when federal prosecutors said he wouldn’t face criminal charges over his campaign fundraising tactics.
But new revelations that two businessmen pleaded guilty to making donations that amounted to bribes has led to a renewed round of criticism of the Democrat.
De Blasio was peppered with questions this week from reporters wondering how he could be not guilty of taking bribes if others admitted they were guilty of paying.

He says he didn’t do anything wrong and the donors got no special treatment.
Legal experts said there are pragmatic reasons prosecutors might go after someone who tried to pay a bribe without pressing charges against the person who allegedly received it.
