Whether you had Foxtel or regular TV growing up, there was always plenty of shows targeted at keeping children entertained, and quiet, in the morning.

Nearing 30 years since these shows began, Daily Mail Australia uncover what your beloved fun-loving hosts have been up to.

Agro’s Cartoon Connection, Channel Seven (1989 – 1997)

Shown on weekday mornings on Channel Seven, Agro’s Cartoon Connection was hosted by Agro the puppet (comedian Jamie Dunn).

Over the show’s nine seasons, co-hosts Ann-Maree Biggar, Terasa Livingstone, Holly Brisley and Michael ‘Gibbo’ Gibson appeared alongside the angry, and often provocative, puppet.

The bubbly Ann-Maree was would often be taunted by Agro and be insulted with offensive remarks on her weight, appearance and intelligence.

In 2009 a leaked video displayed some behind-the-scenes outtakes that were not appropriate for children viewing. The clip titled ‘Agro Adults Only’ has now been viewed more than 2.3 million times. 

Jamie Dunn was also a radio host on Brisbane’s B105 until 2005 and is now on 98.9FM.

Between 2012 and 2014, Jamie was the subject of a stalker responsible for online harassment and threats of violence.

She pleaded guilty to stalking in Caboolture Magistrates Court in December 2014, and was fined $1000 and put on a two-year good behaviour bond, with no conviction recorded. 

After Cartoon Connection Ann-Maree worked on The Great Outdoors, In Melbourne Tonight, Good Morning Australia and 9AM with David & Kim. 

 Cheez TV, Network Ten (1995 – 2004)

The long-running joke was that over-eager kids would have to sit through Aerobics OZ Style before their beloved Cheez TV would entertain them before school.

Over its 10 year stint from 1995 to 2004, hosts Ryan Lappin and Jade Gatt lit up screens with their fun-loving personalities, often putting on hilarious parodies, music video re-enactments and hosting special guests in between cartoons.

Ryan appeared as an actor on Home and Away and Heartbreak High while on Cheez TV and went on to perform in Australian band, UfOBiA, and act in TV ads.

Co-host Jade also made his film debut in Blackrockand hosted late-night music program Ground Zero in 1997.

In 2016 the Cheez TV duo launched a podcast called ‘The Jade & Ryan Show’.

‘It’s crazy that there is still such hype for the show given we finished up around 12 years ago,’ Ryan said on their Twitc stream in July. 

‘What’s blows us away is these kids are now grown up and we can have beers with them, it’s awesome.’

Saturday Disney, Channel Seven (1990 – 2016)

One of the longest-running Australian children’s programs, Saturday Disney was only axed by Channel Seven last year.

The hosts lived in the ‘Disney House’ and performed dares, craft tasks and interviews between the programs.

One memorable host was Shelley Craft, who appeared alongside Melanie Symons and Tim McDonald, in the Nineties.

Shelley has paved her way as a successful media personality, appearing on Australia’s Funniest Home Video Show, Domestic Blitz, The Block and Reno Rumble.

Shelley is married husband Christian Sergiacomi in 2009, who she shares daughters Eadie Rose, four, and Millia Grace, six.

AMTV, Disney Channel

Former Popstars winner Scott Cain turned to his presenter role on Disney’s AMTV in 2004, following unimpressive record sales.

However, building his profile on the show he later toured with singer Hilary Duff as her support act. He even wrote a song about the Disney star, titled ‘I’ve Got A Crush On Hilary Duff.’ 

It’s been reported that after he left the entertainment business in 2006, Scott has been enjoying less glamorous roles, including working for electronic retailer Harvey Norman.

The Bugs Bunny Show, Channel Nine (1990 – 1992)

Changing from a breakfast show to an afternoon slot, the show provoked controversy through its blonde bombshell host Sophie Lee’s wardrobe selection.

At the time it was was controversially suggested it also attract middle-aged men to the show, having had one sexy commercial promoting Sophie as its host.

The 49-year-old has since authored five books, including Alice In La La Land, and appeared in iconic films Muriel’s Wedding, Holy Smoke and He Died With A Falafel In His Hand.

She is married to Anthony Freedman and shares three children with the advertising agency boss.

The Big Breakfast, Network Ten (1992 – 1995) 

The Big Breakfast was only on air for three years before being replaced by the lively Cheez TV.

Presented by Tim Bailey, the weekday series was jam-packed with cartoons, competitions and music videos. 

While Tim’s appearance on the show was short-lived, he has continued with a prominent TV career since.

Tim has worked as print journalist, radio jock and sports reporter.

However, he is best known for his weather presenting, and currently appears on Ten Eyewitness News at Five.
