Many Liverpool fans had the same response as they watched Conor Bradley produce a moment of individual brilliance to tee up Harvey Elliott for the opening goal in Monday’s Premier League clash at Brighton.

The game was only nine minute old when Bradley latched on to a ball over the top down the right and skipped past challenges from two Seagulls defenders.

The full-back then delivered the all-important end product, cutting it back perfectly for Elliott to tap in from close range.

And it was no surprise that another Liverpool man’s name was quickly being mentioned a lot on social media.

Bradley has been Trent Alexander-Arnold’s understudy in recent years but those days have now come to an end with Alexander-Arnold confirming he will be leaving in the summer, expected to join Real Madrid.

Monday’s visit to Brighton made it two starts in a row for Bradley since the announcement with Trent on the bench once again.

And his assist had supporters feeling that they might even be better off with him starting at right-back.

Many took to X to ask ‘who needs Trent?’ after watching the Northern Irishman cut through the Brighton backline.

‘Bradley giving you a glimpse of life without Trent,’ wrote another. ‘Outstanding play by him.’

Another posted: ‘Conor Bradley will will be better for us than Trent considering he can get forward and can actually defend.’

One said: ‘Genuinely though that driving into the box that Bradley does is incredible and Slot clearly rates is because Trent’s replacement is also explosive in that department.

‘We might be even more deadly next season from the right hand side, so exciting.’

Another then suggested that Trent is only leaving because Bradley was already going to replace him.

Bradley may have helped Liverpool to get off to the perfect start but it was ultimately a disappointing night for the champions.

Brighton twice came from behind before Jack Hinshelwood netted an 85th minute winner.

Arne Slot’s men have now failed to win all three of their Premier League games since wrapping up the title.
