Why Anthony Mundine quit I’m A Celeb

Fans are circulating a theory that Anthony Mundine’s departure from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on Thursday was motivated by a fear he would be voted out early by the public.

News.com.au observed that viewers were speculating the professional boxer, 42, may have feared embarrassment if his sporting rival Danny Green was more popular with the show’s audience.

Furthermore, it’s possible that a comment made by Real Housewives Of Melbourne star Jackie Gillies during the episode shattered Anthony’s confidence leading up to the Viper Room challenge.

While in the camp, Anthony confessed to Jackie: ‘I’m thinking of walking.’

She dismissed his concerns, however, observing that he could ‘be voted out this week’ anyway.

This seemingly throwaway comment upset Anthony, who replied: ‘Are you serious? I’m the coolest cat in here!’

Jackie responded: ‘Listen, if you’re voted out before Danny Green, then we know who’s liked.’

Later, after Anthony quit the show following the Viper Room challenge, a fan tweeted: ‘Do you reckon Mundine walked because the thought of being the first voted out (or) voted out before Green would crush his ego too much?’

Another viewer wrote on Twitter: ‘Mundine knows the general public hate him and would have voted him out before Danny Green, so he’s cracked the sads and pulled a Tomic. I hope his charity doesn’t miss out because of this.’

The reference to ‘pulling a Tomic’ alludes to tennis player Bernard Tomic, who made headlines for quitting the show earlier in the season.
