Why Aussie beauty brand’s $19 buy beloved by Gigi Hadid and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has women ‘addicted’: ‘Unlike anything else’

Millions are obsessed with a ‘celebrity-approved’ lip balm stars Gigi Hadid, Drew Barrymore and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley swear by – and it’s less than $20.

Lanolips is a cult classic Australian brand and its top seller and the 101 Ointment ($18.95), has been voted the ‘world’s best lip balm’ by multiple outlets and won countless beauty awards.

Dubbed the ‘ultimate holy grail’, the product contains ultra-pure grade Australian lanolin, which mimics human oils and is often called ‘Nature’s Wonder Moisturiser’.

Gigi Hadid named the budget product one of her top ‘post-pregnancy skin secrets’ after giving birth to her daughter.

The 29-year-old model and mum said she used Lanolips’s The Original 101 Ointment Multipurpose Superbalm on her lips, cheekbones, on the tip of her nose, and even at the edge of her eyebrows.

‘I like to moisturise my lips after skincare and before I start makeup, then it can sit on your lips through your routine, so that when you get to lipstick at the end, it has sat for a bit,’ Gigi told Vogue in 2021. ‘This is called the 101 Ointment, but it’s for everything.’

‘I find that right where my eyebrows end, that’s where I get really dry. I don’t know why, but I sometimes like to dab it there,’ she said. ‘I just think that eyebrow product like pencil and stuff goes on better [after using it].’

The brand also rereleased their best-selling 101 Ointment Superbalm with real fruit extract.

The 101 Fruities are available in watermelon, mint, strawberry, coconutter, peach, green apple and pear flavours.

Former Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley also said: ‘Lanolips is this really cool brand from Australia and it contains an ingredient that is found in sheep’s wool. It’s one of the most hydrating, natural nutrients that there is.

‘They derive the lanolin from sheep’s wool and make it into an incredible line of lip and body care products. Great for dry lips, dry skin, dry nasal passages… perhaps when you’re flying,’ she revealed in a YouTube video about her skincare routine.

Kirsten Carriol’s Lano brand is now a global success, with the likes of model Linda Evangelista and blogger Chloe Morello raving about the buy.

Ms Carriol previously revealed her upbringing on a sheep farm with her DNA scientist father led her to the idea of using lanolin in beauty.

Lanolin, which is found in sheep’s wool, is ultra-hydrating as it mimics the skin’s natural oils and seals in moisture.

Although the product was originally designed to hydrate lips, it can also be used for cuticles, flaky skin, and dry heels and elbows.

The ointment is also 100 per cent natural, vegetarian and holds 200 per cent of its weight in moisture.

‘I have rough, chapped lips all the time. Nothing worked until my daughter told me to try Lanolips. On the first use my lips completely healed! I am sold, I will never use another lip balm,’ a shopper said.

‘So happy I purchased this lip ointment, it’s so cute and the smell is incredible,’ another added. ‘My lips feel refreshed after using and it is super glossy when on.’

‘Holy grail – I’ve tried tens of lip balms but none as good as this one,’ one wrote. ‘The only one I’ll ever buy.’

This multipurpose balm is suitable for even the most sensitive, delicate skin, and several also claimed the soothing balm was allergy-friendly.

‘Love this product! I am allergic to just about every lip ointment out there, but Lanolin saves my lips and heals them,’ a woman revealed.

Australians can find the popular buy on the Lano website, in-stores or online at Sephora, Mecca, Priceline, and more.

For best results, simply warm the ointment between your fingers and dab in gently to your skin.
