Why is Baywatch star Kelly Rohrbach playing golf?

  • Kelly Rohrbach played C.J. Parker in the film remake of Baywatch last summer
  • She is taking part in the Alfred Dunhill Championship in Scotland this week
  • Amateurs team up with pros, including Rory McIlroy, to play three courses
  • The 27-year-old is a keen golfer and has a handicap of seven

You wouldn’t usually expect to find stars of Baywatch playing competitive golf in Scotland on a chilly autumn day, but head to St Andrews this week and that is where you’ll see Kelly Rohrbach.

Having played C.J. Parker in the film released this year, Rohrbach is more used to the baking sun and golden sands of Florida than the bracing winds and rain often found on the east coast of Scotland.

But the 27-year-old Hollywood star is wrapping up warm to take part in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship alongside a host of golf’s biggest names, including Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald and Lee Westwood.

The competition sees amateurs team up with professionals to take on the most famous golf course in the world – the Old Course at St Andrews – plus two other famous layouts in Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.

Given the weather at this time of year in Scotland, it was no surprise to see Rohrbach wrapped up in a black puffer jacket rather than her character’s famous red swimsuit.

She has joined forces with 26-year-old Australian professional Nathan Holman for the event, although the pair were well down the leaderboard on day three of the four-day tournament.

Rohrbach is no mug with a golf club, however – she plays off a very creditable handicap of seven having played college golf in the United States, which she gave up seriously to concentrate on acting and modelling.

The Sports Illustrated swimsuit model also took advantage of the opportunity to bring a special guest along with her this week.

‘Bucket list! Playing The Old Course at St.Andrews with my dad today! Having a ball’, Rohrbach wrote on her Instagram page earlier this week.

On Saturday she could be seen celebrating after sinking a putt at Kingsbarns, although her team’s score was well off the pace set by Jaco Ahlers and former South Africa rugby forward Schalk Burger, and Victor Dubuisson and Shantanu Narayen, the CEO of the Adobe Systems computer software company.

England’s Tyrell Hatton is leading the way in the individual competition.
