Why this VERY angry woman unleashed on an Aussie soccer fan in the stands as he became public enemy no.1 with the crowd booing him

A footy fan’s attempt to do the right thing has backfired in spectacular fashion at a Socceroos match on the Gold Coast.

The Socceroos themselves turned out to be a major disappointment, going down 1-0 to Bahrain in a shock result that will have huge ramifications on their World Cup qualification hopes.

So with the football on the pitch turning dour, a young fan thought he might have a bit of fun.

He cleared the sideline fence and ran onto the pitch, escaping the chasing security guards and jumping another fence and into the crowd – much to their delight.

However he soon met a brick wall in the form of a Socceroos fan who took it upon himself to detain the young pitch invader. 

Boos rained down on the man wearing a flannel shirt as he held the shocked teenager until police could take over.

While pitch invaders in Queensland can face lengthy bans from venues and fines as high as $10,000, most thought the teenager’s act was just a bit of harmless fun.

And instead of applauding the would-be Good Samaritan, they turned on him. 

‘Flannel shirt guy is the kid who reminded the teachers to give the class homework,’ one posted.

‘Cops should’ve escorted flannel shirt guy out,’ fumed another.

‘Flannel shirt for sure was the snitch in class. Pathetic dude,’ another commented,

‘Flannel shirt guy betrayed our national no snitch policy,’ a footy fan posted.

‘This did not go the way flannel shirt guy thought it was gonna go! In his head he was going to be a hero,’ added another. 

‘Even the police thought he was wrong for doing that,’ commented yet another.

While most of the comments were slamming the man for his actions, he did have his defenders

Viewers of the video, which has gone viral with over 27 million views, also applauded a woman in the stands who berated the man in the flannel shirt for his actions.

She stormed out of her seat, beer in hand, to deliver an almighty spray at the shocked Socceroos fan.  

‘I love the mom yelling how dare you at flannel shirt guy,’ one viewer posted. 

‘The lady with the beer telling off the flannel shirt dude,’ laughed another. 

‘Oh the lady was giving it to him at the end she said how dare you,’ added another.

While the comments were overwhelmingly opposed to the actions of the flannel shirt man, he did have some support. 

‘Why everyone hating him he just wanted to watch the game?’ asked one viewer.

‘People hating cuz he did the right thing?’ asked another. 

‘Don’t hate flannel shirt guy.’
