The Amex Platinum Cashback card — which costs £25 a year — also pays 5 per cent cashback for the first three months (up to £125).
After this you will earn 1.25 per cent if your annual spend is over £10,001 or 1 per cent below this. But they are not accepted everywhere.
Santander’s All-In-One credit card costs £3 a month and customers can earn 0.5 per cent cashback.
Tandem Bank’s free credit card offers 0.5 per cent on purchases above £1.
Rachel Springall from Moneyfacts.co.uk, says: ‘Cashback credit cards are great for those who are able to pay off their balances.
‘If you cannot, interest and charges will wipe out the gain.’
