The wife of AFL star Mitch Duncan has defended her husband after he received an onslaught of abusive messages online.

The Geelong star received a series of vile messages after suffering a concussion during a game against Gold Coast on Saturday. 

Duncan’s wife Demi uploaded a screenshot of the shocking texts a disgruntled punter sent her husband on Instagram.

The ‘fan’ described the wingman as ‘weak as fkn p***’ and a ‘pussy’, claiming Duncan’s tumble had cost them money. 

‘Cost me 1k am expecting to be reimbursed,’ the social media user wrote, adding ‘he may be good but you can’t buy a heart’. 

The mother-of-two also revealed some keyboard warriors went as far as sending the couple death threats in connection to gambling. 

‘Wow. What a delightful message for my husband to receive,’ Demi wrote.

‘We have been inundated with amazing messages from sooooo many people. I’ve never had so many DMs. Thank you I literally can’t reply to everyone.

‘Luckily those type of messages don’t bother Mitch. Like they obviously bother me but these messages happen all the time. 

‘Some are even death threats which is just appalling.’

Demi urged her social media following to think twice before sending someone an abusive message online.

Duncan’s teammate Zach Guthrie replaced him for the second half.
