Wife of murdered Australian Brenton Estorffe is ‘terrified’ the gunmen will return and kill her

The wife of an Australian man who was shot dead by home intruders in the US now lives in fear that the gunmen will return to kill her and her two children.

Brenton Estorffe, 29, was gunned down in the lounge room of his home in Fort Bend County, Texas, just after midnight last Wednesday, while his wife and young children slept.

Mr Estorffe, from the Sunshine Coast, leapt out of bed to investigate when he heard his glass door smash shortly after midnight.

His American wife Angeleanna – who witnessed the murder – now locks herself in her bedroom at night while family members stand guard outside her door.

Ms Estorffe said that while her husband’s killers remain on the run, she fears for her family’s safety.

‘I just pray to God that they realise the mistake they made and they come out. That way we will feel safe again,’ she told 7News.

‘Our kids are going to grow up without their dad and that’s not something I ever wanted.’

Ms Estorffe is puzzled as to why her husband was targeted: ‘We lived a normal life, we dedicated our time to work and raising our kids.’

The widower is remembering her husband as an ‘amazing father’ who ‘dedicated his life to his kids’.

Mr Estorffe’s father Michael – who landed in Texas over the weekend – told News Corp on Thursday his daughter-in-law is ‘fearing for her safety and her kids’ safety.’

‘Ange fears for her life. She is terrified,’ he said.

The distraught father plans to visit police in Texas tomorrow to find out more information from authorities.

He claims local law enforcement in Texas still haven’t contacted his family.

It’s understood the Estorffe family have been stunned by the way Texas police treated Angeleanna in the immediate wake of the fatal shooting.

The family have thrown their unwavering support behind their daughter-in-law.

Police are currently patrolling the Fort Bend County suburb, but Michael strongly believes his son’s killers accidentally targeted the wrong man in a case of mistaken identity.

‘That’s probably the worst part about it all, that he never made enemies. It wasn’t in his nature to do that,’ he said.

He raised the question of whether a domestic violence incident on the same street could be connected.

‘My gut feeling is they have got the wrong person. I can’t find any reason that he was shot. It seems like they targeted the wrong person at the wrong address.’

Michael also revealed fresh chilling details of the night his son was murdered.

Mr Estorffe’s three-year-old daughter Asha reportedly started squealing while the shots ran out.

‘He collapsed at the back door. He was shot twice in the chest. One gun shot went into the wall. A clear shot went through the wall.

‘He jumped up with a blanket still on him and he collapsed beside the door.

Michael said his son’s wife saw the killers pointing their guns at her.

Ms Estorffe told police she had heard glass shattering before her husband jumped up to check what was happening.

The robbers fled the scene before Ms Estorffe made a desperate call to 911 at 12.03am to report the intruders.

She was unable to tell police if the intruders were still inside her home during the call.

‘No I don’t think so but I’m so scared I can’t walk over to my husband,’ she said.

‘I’m so sorry I have two kids in the house. I don’t know what to do.

‘I’m just, I’m freaking out really bad right now … and I’m trying to get the number of my neighbour.’

Surveillance footage of a ‘vehicle of interest’ was released on Saturday by police in a bid to track down the intruders.

A $25,000 reward is on offer for the person who can assist in finding the offenders.

Police confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
