Triple M according to Nine News, sent an email out to subscribers announcing they’ll do the ‘Ozzest 100’ countdown on Australia Day, after the ABC and Triple J moved their iconic countdown to another date.

Wil reportedly tweeted about the shock move: ‘Extremely shocked and disappointed by it all and have made clear to management yesterday and will continue to hold and prosecute why I don’t think it’s a good idea.’

At the time, the 43-year old said he was excited to join the program, and claimed that he is a huge fan of the show for its fast wit and commentary on current affairs.

‘It’s a show which gives you the news, and makes the news, all with a laugh,’ Wil said on air, after Eddie announced he would be taking the place of Mick.

‘So many times I have thought I would love to be part of that conversation, and now I’m rapt that I get to, waking up with my favourite city in the world.’

While Mick departed the show in June to join Jane Kennedy on the radio station’s afternoon drive slot, Wil didn’t join the Triple M team without a plethora of experience.
