Wild beachside brawl between bouncers and pubgoers in Glenelg, South Australia, caught on camera, as four are hospitalised and three men arrested

Three men are behind bars and another four are in hospital after a wild brawl broke out between security guards and a group of men in a tourist hotspot.

The fight erupted on the corner of Elizabeth and Moseley Streets in Glenelg, Adelaide, around 8pm on Friday.

Footage captured by bystanders showed the group of men squaring up with the bouncers before one man started throwing punches.

He was quickly subdued by the security officers as the shocked people filming the fight from their car began reversing the vehicle in order to create some distance.

One man who was unconscious and lying on the street was also seen being assisted by passers-by while the other men continued scrapping.

South Australian Police arrested three men, two from Morphett Vale and one from Christie Downs, and they were each charged with assault, reported 7News.

All three have been banned from the precinct for three months.

A fourth man from Aldinga Beach who is currently still in hospital is also expected to receive the same ban once he recovers.

A man and a woman who were filming from within the safety of a car could be heard gasping in shock as the brawl intensified.

‘Oh he just hit his head into a brick wall,’ the woman said at one point.

‘That guy over there as well, he’s unresponsive,’ the man replied.

The unconscious man on the ground was helped by two bystanders as others came over to check on his condition.

Three security guards were also hospitalised with minor injuries as a result of the fight.

Glenelg’s Party Precinct, located towards the end of Jetty Road near the wharf, encompasses the area in which the fight took place.

South Australian Police opted to designate the area a tourism hot spot prior to the fight on Friday.

This decision grants officers additional powers over the summer season as police have said they will not tolerate anti-social behaviour in the area with tourists around.

The new rules are in effect over a period of 12 hours from 3pm to 3am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This new designation will last until April 7.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Metropolitan Operations John De Candia said the declaration would provide police additional authorities to protect public safety.

‘Glenelg sees a substantially larger patronage from December to April and this requires a dedicated policing response,’ he said.

‘We want everyone to enjoy their time in Glenelg and this [Declared Public Precinct] provides police with another tool to protect the community.’
