Two men have been arrested, while another two individuals were taken to hospital after a wild brawl erupted during an NRL match between the Wests Tigers and the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Sunday afternoon.

Wayne Bennett’s side clinched their second successive victory at Campbelltown Stadium, besting the Tigers by 12-22 to move into the top eight.

However, the match was marred by ugly scenes in the crowd as a group of individuals brawled on the grassy banks around the stadium.

Channel 9 aired footage of the scrap on Monday, with footage appearing to show some pulling children away from the melee to protect them, as spectators gathered to split up the aggressors.

One man was seen left with a cut on his forehead and had blood pouring down his face following the fight.

In a statement released on Monday, New South Wales Police wrote that one officer was ‘allegedly punched in the head’ and another was ‘ allegedly punched in the face’.

Both suffered injuries as a result of the tensions and were later treated for cuts and bruising.

‘A further two men were injured, with one being taken by ambulance to Liverpool Hospital with suspected concussion, and a second man taken by ambulance to Campbelltown Hospital suffering facial injuries,’ the police statement adds.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged with affray, two counts of assaulting a police officer and one charge of resisting arrest.

A spokesperson for the force says he has been granted a conditional bail and will appear in Campbelltown Local Court on June 12, 2025.

A 28-year-old man was also arrested for common assault. He is due to be issued with a court attendance notice.

Four people were evicted from the stadium following the incident.

The Wests Tigers are now investigating the incident and have condemned the violent actions.

‘This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated by the club,’ a statement from the Tigers wrote.
