Wild road-rage incident erupts on busy street in Australia – so which driver is in the wrong?

A chaotic road rage incident on a busy Newcastle street has been captured on camera.

In the footage shared on Reddit on Monday, a red Ford Escape is seen rear-ending a Volkswagen Tiguan.

The driver of the Volkswagen then gets out and confronts the Ford driver, attempting to grab him through the window while shouting: ‘Are you f*cking happy, c*nt?’

He then accuses the Ford driver of tailgating him, yelling: ‘He’s been up my f*cking arse since I left the train station.’

Despite the outburst, the Volkswagen appeared undamaged because its towbar had caught the Ford’s bumper, which was completely torn off.

‘You don’t get to corner people in their cars and scream at them because they weren’t to your standards,’ one said.

A second added: ‘Reacting with rage and anger ain’t going to solve s**t. The guy hit him, damage is minimal to non-existent, insurance will sort it.’

However, others accused the Ford driver of poor driving.

‘Tailgaters are the worst. I can handle most of them, but I worry about people like the elderly or inexperienced who panic when someone is tailgating them,’ one said.

A second said: ‘He literally has a Ford bumper hanging off his tow ball!

‘I think that might be an indication that old mate was up his arse and got a bit of tailgating karma for his actions.

‘People belligerent of the road rules (3 second gap) should perhaps pay attention. He blew up for a decent reason, I reckon.’

NSW Police have been contacted for comment.
