Wilfried Zaha is offered £8m-a-year contract by Galatasaray as Turkish champions ramp up bid to sign former Crystal Palace forward on free transfer

  • Galatasaray hope lure of playing in Champions League will give them an edge
  • Forward is available on a free after allowing his Crystal Palace contract to expire
  • Zaha is training at his hometown club as he recovers from the hamstring injury

Galatasaray are pushing to sign free agent Wilfried Zaha.

The Turkish champions are hoping to tempt forward Zaha with a contract offer worth around £8million-a-year.

Zaha is available on a free after allowing his Crystal Palace contract to expire, though he has continued to train at his hometown club as he recovers from the hamstring injury that brought a premature end to his 22/23 season.

Zaha, 30, has been the subject of interest and enquiries from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli, Lazio and Galatasaray’s rivals Fenerbahce.

But in the same way Galatasaray beat Fenerbahce to last season’s Turkish title, they are trying to pip them to Zaha’s signature.

By winning the title Galatasary secured entry to the Champions League qualifying round, a competition Zaha wants to test himself in and factor that could give them an edge.

Mail Sport understands Galatasary are trying to move swiftly to convince Zaha to join them.

As well as the interest from overseas, Zaha also had a renewal offer from Crystal Palace worth £200,000-per-week.

But that remained unsigned allowing him to keep his option open over his future.
