Will Smith has not released a full-length album in nearly 20 years, but on Thursday he took the stage in Los Angeles for a surprise performance of his 1991 hit song Summertime.
The 55-year-old entertainer — who performed a new song at the BET Awards this year — joined singer Coco Jones, 26, at an event celebrating season three of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spinoff, which is simply titled Bel-Air.
The dramatic series, which streams on Peacock, will return to screens on August 15.
To mark the upcoming milestone, the show hosted a BBQ with cast members at Universal Studios Backlot.
Jones sang her latest single Here We Go before calling Smith, an executive producer on the show, to the stage.

Smith, whose wife is actress and media personality Jada Pinkett, wore a beige Prada shirt-jacket and ivory trousers.
His dark hair was neatly cut short and he looked typically handsome with a thin layer of a beard.
Jabari Banks, Olly Sholotan, Jimmy Akingbola, Adrian Holmes, Akira Akbar, Jordan L. Jones and Simone Joy Jones — who each star on Bel-Air — were also at the gathering.
Peacock revealed the first teaser for the first season of the dramatic reboot in November 2021.
For the trailer, Will provided a somber narration by reciting some of the original lyrics of the Fresh Prince theme song.
Banks, 26, portrays main character Will in the show, which is set in modern times and explores his ‘complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air.’
The third season synopsis states, ‘Being a part of the Banks family has given him a new perspective – it isn’t just about wealth, it means that Will now has options to lean into other things that excite him and has the privilege to dream bigger.’
It continues: ‘As Will makes an exciting pivot, he finds a partner in Carlton (Sholotan), who desperately wants to leave his life of addiction behind and rebuild his damaged reputation.’

The summary adds, ‘While the dynamic duo has a lot of exciting wins, working together also reveals fundamental differences in their backgrounds and worldviews.’
It begs the questions: ‘Can a partnership of such extremes work?’
The outline goes on to share, ‘Pressure at work and home will also pose challenges for Viv (Cassandra Freeman) and Phil (Holmes). How does a couple hold strong when their lives are at sea?
‘Hilary’s (Jones) romantic journey with LaMarcus will face some shocking hurdles, and Ashley’s (Akira Akbar) views on romance will start to blossom as she comes of age the summer before she starts high school, and Geoffrey’s (Akingbola) London past will come a little too close to home.’
