Wisconsin homeowner spots creepy clown on doorstep camera

This spine-chilling footage captures a creepy clown approaching a homeowner’s doorstep – amid fears the release of new horror film It will cause the scary dressing-up trend to return.

The black-and-white clip, captured by a camera on the doorbell, shows a clown holding black balloons lurking on the lawn before coming up to the front door and peering into the house in Green Bay, Wisconsin. 

Police have expressed fears of a return of the ‘killer clown’ trend fuelled by the release of the Stephen King film which stars Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise the clown.

In the film, adapted from King’s novel of the same name, a demon takes the shape of Pennywise to stalk and kill children.

In a community awareness bulletin released last week, Pennsylvania State Police department said: ‘It is anticipated that “creepy clown” sightings could be reported starting as soon as September, in part due to the fact that the movie IT will be released in theaters.’ 

The figure in the clip filmed by the Ring Video Doorbell is thought to be ‘Gags’ the Green Bay Clown who was spotted by various witnesses in early August.

Photos shared on a Facebook fan page of Gags show a figure dressed in a ragged jumpsuit, over-sized clown shoes and a dirty ruff collar around the neck.

One commenter suggested the clown prank was the handiwork of a director working on a short horror film, but this is unconfirmed.

Last year the craze got so out of hand in the UK that police forces across the country discouraged the dressing up and said they would arrest any clown causing a threat.
