Witnesses say cops in East Pittsburgh have shot two people in the back while they were running away

Police fired multiple shots towards two people who tried to escape a traffic stop in East Pittsburgh on Tuesday night. 

Shocking video shows two people run away from a grey car and duck as police fire three shots in a row. 

A witness told WTAE the incident appeared to be a traffic stop until things got out of hand. 

She said she saw police pull over the grey car and walk up to the vehicle holding their guns up.

One officer placed the driver in handcuffs, but the two passengers bolted from the vehicle when officers asked them to get out of the car. 

As they ran, police opened fire, she said. 

The street is now flooded with police as they try to establish what has happened. There are no confirmed injuries. 

A spokesman for Allegheny County police told DailyMail.com it was ‘very early into the investigation’ and could not comment further.

The incident is reportedly linked to a shooting in North Braddock, little more than a mile away.

Multiple calls to 911 reported shots fired about 8pm and a car leaving the scene.

Soon after, country officials told WTAE they had made a felony traffic stop on a possible suspect vehicle. During the traffic stop, there was gunfire, with one suspect injured and transported to a local hospital.  

Their current condition is not known, but video from the scene of what appears to be a young man being put into an ambulance appears to show paramedics performing chest compressions. 

The driver of the vehicle is believed to be in custody, while another two people have escaped the scene.
