Juventus stopper Szczesny moved to the Serie A champions from Arsenal this summer after eight seasons with the Gunners.

The 27-year-old has deputised for legendary keeper Gianluigi Buffon at Juventus for the majority of the season but was handed a rare start during the 2-1 win over Benevento at the weekend.

Juventus came from behind on Sunday with goals from Juan Cuadrado and Gonzalo Higuain enough to see off Benevento, who sit bottom of the table having failed to collect a point this season.

Bournemouth goalkeeper Boruc meanwhile has also been made to play second fiddle at club level, with the Cherries preferring summer signing Asmir Begovic.

Both keepers are competing for the No 1 spot in the Poland side which is currently held by Szczesny’s former Arsenal team-mate Lukasz Fabianski.

Swansea’s Fabianski has been Poland’s No 1 choice throughout their World Cup qualifying campaign but was replaced by Szczesny for the 4-2 win over Montenegro last month which sealed qualification as Group E winners.

Poland Uruguay on Friday in Warsaw before a clash with Mexico in Gdansk on Monday as they warm up for the World Cup with two friendly matches.
