The alleged assault was reported to have taken place while the woman was working in the entertainment industry, according to The Geelong Advertiser.
The woman allegedly made a statement to Shoalhaven Police in NSW earlier in the month.
‘Police are investigating an allegation of a historical sexual assault on Sydney’s eastern beaches,’ a police spokesman told News Corp.
‘The allegations were reported to police earlier this month and relate to a matter from the 1970s.’
The 65-year-old actor first shot to fame for his role Picnic At Hanging Rock, but it was his role as serial killer Mick Taylor in Wolf Creek that made him a household name.
