Woman, 25, ‘sent email to her ex boyfriend’s clients claiming he had raped her’

A woman who ordered a fake pregnancy belly on Amazon during a ‘sinister’ stalking campaign against her ex-boyfriend sent his clients emails claiming he had raped her, a court heard.

Jessica Nordquist, 25, and former lover Mark Weeks both worked for video advertising company Unruly based in Whitechapel, east London.

They met after Nordquist, described as a solutions engineer for the company, moved from New York to the London office in June last year, Snaresbrook Crown Court was told.

Nordquist allegedly launched a harassment campaign against Mr Weeks after they broke up last November.

She used multiple email accounts to send ‘abusive and untrue’ emails with rape allegations to her ex’s clients from January to March, jurors were told.

She ordered a fake silicon pregnancy belly on Amazon and claimed she had taken an overdose, jurors heard.

Giving evidence Mr Weeks said: ‘It was devastating obviously, the posts previously on social media, and there had been threats previously talking about sending messages to my clients.

‘I felt for them to be receiving messages like this direct to their emails accounts, there was no way of engaging it.

‘I thought this was doing serious damage to my career and my reputation. You think the worst. You think this is going to be career ending.

‘There were so many emails referring to where I was and what I was wearing.’

One of the emails read: ‘You just walk in, where have you been all morning I wonder. Why are you still dressed in the dark blue shirt. Why don’t you wear anything else.’

Another email, which Mr Weeks was blind copied into and was sent out to clients, read: ‘You should know Mark and Unruly, you covered up the most atrocious crime ever. I’ll keep telling her story, for justice, I will keep telling the world because they have silenced her.’

Most messages were signed off with ‘tick-tock Mark Weeks,’ it was said.

Mr Weeks added: ‘These allegations were damaging to my personal welfare I am highly anxious, feeling depressed. I don’t really know what is coming next.

‘It felt my whole life was going on hold.’.

Another email to customers said: ‘Think twice before looking to Mark and Unruly again.’

Prosecutor Claire Robinson has said the pair started dating in August last year but ‘wanted different things’ and broke up three months later.

Nordquist, who is originally from Eagle River in Alaska and went to Northern State University in South Dakota, had moved to Unruly’s London office from New York.

She also claimed she was eight weeks pregnant with his baby, jurors heard.

They went to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel and Nordquist had an abortion on 13 December.

Nordquist, of Whitechapel, east London, denies two counts stalking, two counts of sending malicious communications and one count of perverting course of justice.

The trial continues.
