A Melbourne woman sought to cure her hunger with a classic Australian snack – but was shocked to find a nasty surprise inside.

Tina Vang bought a Thai chicken pie for $3 from a Coles supermarket in the Melbourne CBD at lunchtime on Thursday.

After taking a bite she realised there was an unwelcome intruder nestled in between the meat and pastry after allegedly tucking into a rubber band.

Ms Yang told Daily Mail Australia finding the rubber band made her ‘almost vomit’.

‘I accidentally ate one piece, but I didn’t realise at first until I took out the pie from the box,’ she said.

She said the ‘whole pie is contaminated’ and that it tasted ‘very bitter’.

‘I hope I don’t have any rubber band in my tummy… that’s very disgusting in the pie.’

She contacted Coles, posting a video of the pie and the rubber band she allegedly found in her lunch on the supermarket chain’s Facebook page.

A Coles spokesman replied to Ms Vang saying they would share the video with the ‘National Quality Team’.
